UN&UP Awarded NIH Diversity Supplement for Miss Cora Johnson.

UN&UP is delighted to announce the awarding of a NIH Diversity Supplement for Ms. Cora Johnson under our grant R44NS132605 “Low-Dose Magneto-Thrombolysis to Expand Stroke Care.”

Encouraging diversity through the participation of individuals from underrepresented groups in the scientific research workforce is a key goal of the National Institutes of Health. To promote this effort within small MedTech companies, SBIR/STTR grant awardees have the opportunity to compete for administrative supplements that will assist their businesses in enhancing their workforce diversity by supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Ms. Johnson joined UN&UP last spring as an undergraduate engineering intern. This supplement will support her ongoing efforts with original research as well as funding travel to the International Stroke Conference in February 2025. Ms. Johnson is currently working towards her Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis and is expected to graduate in the spring of 2027. Ms. Johnson was the one of the Missouri Top 100 Scholars in 2023 and a College Board Rural Scholar in 2021.

Please join us in recognizing Cora Johnson in this most recent accomplishment and encouraging a dynamic and successful career in the biomedical field.
